A large part of your e-bike maintenance can be done by yourself
You can handle a large part of your electric bike’s maintenance yourself. By giving your e-bike a little extra attention on a regular basis, you’ll be able to enjoy it for much longer. Difficult? Not at all! There are many small things you can easily do yourself.
How to maintain your electric bike yourself
1. Check the tire pressure of your electric bike
Soft tires not only make cycling harder, they also wear out faster. Many SPARTA e-bikes are equipped with a pressure indicator on the valve that shows whether the tire pressure is correct. If there is no pressure indicator, the correct tire pressure is listed on the sidewall of the tire. That way, you’ll always know the proper tire pressure.
2. Clean your electric bike regularly
By quickly removing sand, mud, or—in winter—snow and ice, you prevent damage to components. Treat your electric bike gently: avoid using a high-pressure washer and make sure no water remains on parts after cleaning.
3. Maintenance of your chain or belt
If your bike has an exposed chain, it’s easy to access. Make sure to clean and lubricate the chain of your electric bike regularly. Proper maintenance should be done using a product that prevents rust.
If your bike has a belt drive, make sure to regularly rinse off sand and other dirt with water. Never use soap and do not spray the belt with (chain) grease. Only use a maintenance spray that is suitable for belt drives, and apply the spray only when the belt is completely dry.
Maintenance of your e-bike battery
The battery of your electric bike is, of course, extremely important—without it, you won’t benefit from the assistance your e-bike provides. By maintaining your e-bike battery properly, you extend its lifespan, allowing you to enjoy your electric bike for even longer.
That’s why it’s essential to handle your battery correctly.

Prefer to have your electric bike serviced by a SPARTA-dealer?
Of course, not all maintenance can be done yourself. Fortunately, there’s always a SPARTA store near you where you can have your bike serviced. Please note: always have your SPARTA electric bike maintained by an authorized SPARTA-dealer. They have the right expertise and materials to take proper care of your e-bike.
It’s recommended to take your electric bike to a SPARTA-dealer at least once a year for a maintenance service. They will ensure all essential components are properly checked and can often resolve any issues right away.
